What in the world is going on with Republican Congressmen?

Congressman Joe Walsh of Illinois said recently that medical advances made it unnecessary to ever perform an abortion to save the life of the mother. Seriously, you can’t make this stuff up! “With modern technology and science, you can’t find one instance.”

Representative Walsh is, of course, completely incorrect. We have made incredible advances in the medical field, no question. But, it’s absolutely not true that we’ve reached a point where no woman’s life is ever in danger during a pregnancy. It’s just not true. Mother’s dying during pregnancy is certainly less common than it was a century ago. But, it’s not zero.

I think it’s time we add a science and health class to congressional sessions.
