I Escaped the Middle Class!

Finally! I mean, my paycheck is less than it was last month so, obviously, I must have moved up the ladder since President Obama promised middle class taxes wouldn’t go up. But wait… I’m still middle class. What’s wrong with you, Mr. President?! You told me my taxes wouldn’t go up!

These are the sorts of things I’ve been hearing from people the past few days who are shocked when they realize there’s a slight decrease in their take home pay versus last year. These people are what I like to refer to as the uninformed, ie, the majority of citizens. It’s unfortunate.

Yes, your paycheck is less. Two percent less, to be exact. Why? The payroll tax holiday ended. Period. End of story. Those of us who pay attention, read the news and watch educational programming instead of trash, were well prepared with the knowledge that our paycheck would be reduced two percent in 2013. Those that didn’t were shocked and blame President Obama. I guess it’s easier to blame the president than to take responsibility for your own ignorance.
