Speak the Truth

Or… not. John Hawkins writes recently on Right Wing News:

2) You don’t bend over backwards to help the other side: Hey, Chris Christie, when your state is hit by a hurricane near the close of a presidential election, you don’t do everything humanly possible to make Barack Obama look good at the expense of Mitt Romney. When there’s a shutdown fight, Republicans like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Peter King shouldn’t be publicly telling the world that the Republican Party is at fault. When that sort of open sabotage is rewarded, it pumps rat poison into the veins of the GOP.

Mr. Hawkins is attempting to argue that some members of the GOP do not know how to win. I would agree with that but lying to your constituents and attempting to block other people from doing their job, as implied above, is also not a way to win. The Democrats aren’t the enemy! Until we realize that, we are going to continue having blockade after blockade and be stalled thus thwarting any progress.

Suggesting that Governor Christie deny help from the federal government is quite possibly the most ridiculous suggestion I have ever heard. Does Mr. Hawkins not realize what would have happened? Governor Christie would have been painted as just another politician that cares nothing about his constituents and only cares about his political aspirations. Rejecting aid would not only have been politically stupid, it would have been morally reprehensible. If this is the type of Republican party Mr. Hawkins desires, I can only hope that the company he finds is small.

Fantastic blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
