Wrapped in a Bow? Global Warming!

“Global Warming is the gift that keeps on giving to the leftist. This is why he will never give it up.” Jack Kerwick closes his article on Townhall with this quote. To say that people on the left who accept global warming for the fact that it is are excited about it because it provides scare tactic, is simply naive and utterly dangerous. To spew such nonsense without looking at the facts is reckless.

Many people point to a slowdown of rising global temperature. National Geographic is cautious: “The suggestion that global warming has stopped is ‘nonsense,’ climatologist Richard Alley of Penn State University said last fall. The fact that the year 2012 was no warmer than 2002, he said, ignores the long term trend of warming.”

We honestly cannot debate whether global warming exists. It does. Period. End of discussion. Yet, many refuse to accept facts. I hear constantly, “well, you can make numbers say whatever you want.” Sure, you could, but then they’d most likely be wrong. When an entire scientific community stands behind results, how can you argue?

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stand by their reports which have been tested by thousands of scientists all reaching similar conclusions. In fact, ninety seven percent of climate scientists concur.

I am not an expert in this area nor do I claim to be. But when nearly all scientists tell me something is happening, I take them at their word. Therein lies the point: how can you possibly be so blind as to deny what others see clearly? It’s almost as if I say the sky is blue, you’re going to say it’s red because I’m a crazy leftist who doesn’t know anything.

It’s honestly stupid. Can we please stop arguing about facts? We can argue all day about the best path to take in making changes and moving our country and planet forward. But, before we can even get to that point, we have to stop arguing about facts and accept them as facts. Facts are not debatable. Facts are tested and proven. A problem exists so let’s stop arguing about that and start arguing about solutions.
